Access to Refugio Neumayer in 4WD. Ascend the Chall Huaco peak with touring skis and skins. We stop at Laguna Verde, and other viewpoints on our way to the summit of Chall- huaco. Descend backcountry skiing to the lodge - refugio with an optional .... Return to Bariloche with 4WD transportation.

Ascend to Refugio Lopez in a 4 WD vehicle or on foot (approx. 2 hours) through a forest with cypress, lenga and coihue trees, typical of the area. Once we reach the mountain lodge, we'll relax for a short while, enjoy a snack and then begin with the skis our way up. We will climb through mountain terrain for about 2 hours until we reach the summit, from where you are able to see all the mountains of the region: Cerro Tronador (3.554 m), Volcán Lanin (3.776 m), Tristeza branch and the whole Nahuel Huapi lake. Descend in alpine style to the lodge, take a short break and then we start our way back to return to your hotel.

We will start in Villa Catedral going up with the ski lifts of Alta Patagonia. From there we walk to the edge with the crampons (depending on the weather) and here starts our excursion. We walk to the pass that give us the way to the Van Titter valley from here we ski downhill up to the further possible point. We stop for lunch at the joint of Van Titter and Toncek stream from there we take the trail to Refugio frey and after 3 hs. of skiing and hiking we return to our starting point in Villa Catedral.

Duration: full day (starting at 9 a.m.)
Level: intermediate

We start our excursion at the southeast ridge of Catedral mountain. From this point we have a great view to the east, the city and to the west-southest the Van Titter valley and Frey mountain lodge. It is a nice slope with small gradient and we ski skirting the mountain. It is great for sightseeing and to have a pic nic at the edge (if the weather conditions are good). We start at Punta Princesa passing along Diente de Caballo lagoon, finally arriving to the south ridge. From here skiing downhill will require a certain experience, for an intermediate skier level. This is a great option for a family trip.

This is just skiing outbound of the regular patrolled skiing courts of Catedral skiing center with guides and experts (patrollers and mountain guides). This excursion can be in the morning, in the afternoon or both.
