TRIP DETAILS

Cerro Challhuaco is in the Nahuel Huapi National Park. Access to Refugio Neumayer with 4WD, and then skin up to the summit of Cerro Challhuaco with your mountain guide.

This backcountry skiing day trip is a classic option in Bariloche. Good tree skiing for beginner backcountry skiers. The trees are very spread out on gentle slopes. Above tree line we skin up and climb a bowl that offers a mellow ski run. For more of a challenge, your ski guide can take you on a 30 degree ski run.

On a long day of ski touring, with a good team, you can ski the backside of Cerro Challhuaco accessing to Cerro Ñireco and Cerro Blanco. This terrain offers wide open bowls at a moderate angle. The area is not very steep for those skiers looking for a big challenge, or chutes, but this is a very beautiful area to explore.

Cerro Challhuaco is a good option for bad weather days or when avalanche conditions are touchy in the high mountains.
